On Sunday (26th) the Sutton Rambling Club will be enjoying a very special day celebrating the 80th anniversary of the club. The occasion will be marked by a ramble of 10/11 miles following a section of the clubs first ever ramble which took place in June 1931..In addition to the ramble there will be a lunchtime nostalgic steam train trip on Peak Rail between Matlock and Rowsley.

The walk will begin with a gentle three mile walk from Dethick to Matlock via Tansley,Jackhill Farm and Lumsdale.. There will be a morning break before the walk heads down to Hall Leys Park and Matlock Bridge to the Riverside railway station in Matlock in time to catch the 1.00 pm train to Rowsley. There will then be the opportunity to eat your own packed lunch on the train journey.

On returning to Matlock at 2.10 pm we continue our walk with a steep climb out of Matlock towards Cuckoostone Dale.Palethorpe Farm and Bottom Moor. The route then continues on to Kelstedge where we will enjoy an afternoon break. The last section of the walk proceeds to Ashover,Fallgate,Milltown and Woolley Moor finishing at Ogston Reservoir at 6.30 pm ready for the coach departure home.

The McEwens coach leaves the "Staff Of Life " pub on Hack Lane in Sutton-in-Ashfield at 9.15am and the Bancroft Lane end,Stockwell Gate(near the Netto supermarket) in Mansfield at 9.30am.There are other pick up points en route.. The coach fare is £9,accompanied juniors free. IT IS IMPORTANT TO PREBOOK IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A SEAT ON THE TRAIN.
