On Sunday (2nd May 2010) the members of the Sutton Rambling Club will be enjoying an 11 mile walk around the Hathersage area on the White Peak / Dark Peak borders. The walk will include excellent Gritstone Edge views, open moorland and the villages of Hathersage and Eyam.

Hathersage churchThe route will commence from Moscar Lodge (grid ref 231879) and travel south along the popular Stanage Edge. Given reasonable conditions there should be spectacular views of Bleaklow and Kinder Scout from this fine gritstone edge. We then descend past the Bronte cottage at North Lees and drop into the quaint olde worlde village of Hathersage for our lunch break where refreshments will be available. Little John's grave is claimed to be in the churchyard.

Suitably refreshed we continue south in the afternoon past Leadmill village and onto the inspiring Eyam Moor where good views of the Derwent Valley can be enjoyed.. It is then on into the famous picturesque village of Eyam for a mid afternoon stop and then the final section takes us further south to Calver Sough (grid ref 240750) for a 6.15 pm coach departure home.

As always new members are always most welcome and will be able to enjoy attractive scenery, healthy exercise and friendly company.

The McEwnns coach leaves the "Staff of Life" pub on Hack Lane in Sutton-in-Ashfield at 9.15am and the Bancroft Lane end, Stockwell Gate (near the Netto supermarket) in Mansfield at 9.30am.
