Sutton Rambling Club-Sutton Bank ramble. Sunday 4 April 2010.

On Sunday the members of the Sutton Rambling Club will be "spreading their wings" and enjoying the wonderful scenery at the Sutton Bank Nature Reserve on the edge of the North York Moors National Park There will be a choice of two circular walks of either 7 or 9 miles. Tremendous views from the top of Sutton Bank, arguably some of the finest in the country.

North York Moors ramble

The walks will start from the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre where refreshments and toilets will be available. Initially the route will drop down to the lake and we aim to have a coffee stop around 12.00. This delightful walk then takes us through woods, across farmland and forest plantations and there will be ample time to enjoy the banks of snowdrops and daffodils en route. We eventually reach some picnic tables where good views of Sunny Bank and the "flock" of gliders can be seen. This will be our late picnic lunch stop. Then a choice of two routes back to the centre passing by the White Horse.

Heather moorlandWe should be back at the Centre between 4.30 and 5.00 in time for a final drink before the coach journey home. Alternatively there is a pub nearby.

As always we are very pleased to welcome new members and can guarantee healthy exercise, good scenery and friendly company.

The McEwens coach leaves the "Staff Of Life " pub on Hack Lane in Sutton-in-Ashfield at 8.15 am and the Bancroft Lane end, Stockwell Gate (near the Netto supermarket) in Mansfield at 8.30am. There are other pick up points en route and there is no need to pre-book your seat.
