Sutton in Ashfield Rambling Club
This page will be updated regularly with details of the next
On Sunday (10th January 2010) the members of the Sutton Rambling Club will be enjoying the spectacular views from the Heights of Abraham near Matlock. This will be a fairly steady ramble of approximately 7.5 miles and will be a great start to our 2010 walking programme.
The walk starts at Crich village (grid ref 350542) and proceeds north west through Wakebridge and Holloway and on to Bow Wood, where we will probably have a mid morning coffee stop. We then continue on Cromford Mill for our lunch break with the choice of a cafe or picnic by the Cromford Canal.
In the afternoon we head north for a steady ascent up the Heights of Abraham and will be rewarded with magnificent views of the Derwent Valley and the surrounding uplands. Our ramble then descends into Matlock to pick up the coach at the new car park adjacent to the B.R.station at approximately 4.15pm.
New members are always made to feel most welcome and perhaps this could be an ideal opportunity to put a New Year resolution for healthy exercise into practice?
The McEwens coach leaves the "Staff Of Life " pub on Hack Lane in Sutton-in-Ashfield at 9.15 am and the Bancroft Lane end, Stockwell Gate (near the Netto supermarket) in Mansfield at 9.30am. There are other pick up points en route.
