This is a previous walk by the Sutton in Ashfield Rambling Club in South Yorkshire. Please click for details of the next walk or a walking calendar.

On Sunday (24th August 2008) the members of the Sutton Rambling Club will be enjoying a variety of rural scenery and villages in Leicestershire. It will be a very steady 11 mile linear ramble predominantly over flat terrain.

The walk will start near Melton Mowbray and initially head north following the Jubilee Way path. We then take a slight detour to visit the Melton Country Park where the visitor centre has refreshments and toilets available. This will be a fairly early mid-morning break. After rejoining the Jubilee Way the route continues north up to the village of Scalford where we have our main lunchtime stop. There is a pub in the village for more refreshments.

Eaton, LeicestershireThen in the afternoon we continue north-eastwards through very pleasant scenery exploring two more villages Goadby Marwood and Eaton. There will be ample time for aa mid-afternoon break in Eaton. We then head east through Branston and aim to finish our walk at Croxton Kerrial (grid ref 805290) at approx 6.00pm The coach will leave at 6.30 pm.

As always new members are most welcome and would find this an excellent introductory ramble. Steady healthy exercise in rural setting and plenty of opportunity to get to chat with the members.

The leader of the Leicestershire ramble is Yvonne who can be contacted on 01623 513439 if you would like more information about the walk.

The McEwens coach leaves Langford Street end, opposite Asda in Sutton at 9.20 am and Bancroft Lane end, Stockwell Gate (near Netto supermarket in Mansfield at 9.30 am.
