This is a previous walk by the Sutton in Ashfield Rambling Club in South Yorkshire. Please click for details of the next walk or a walking calendar.
On Sunday 10th August 2008 the group extended their horizons into South Yorkshire visiting two parks and walking three national trials en route.
This will be an easy ramble of 10/11 miles distance with no significant hills to tackle. The starting point is Cannon Hall Country Park (grid ref 270080).We head through the park along the Barnsley Boundary Walk and move northwards to the village of High Hoyland where we will stop for a mid-morning break. We then continue north along the B.B.W. until we reach our lunchtime destination the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Refreshments will be available at the Visitor Centre and there will be ample time to enjoy the various sculptures including works by the famous Henry Moore.
Duly refreshed we then pick up the Dearne Way and head south-west until linking up with the Kirklees Way.The route continues south past Bilham Grange and onwards into Deffer Wood. There is then a steady finish heading south-west again by Denby Hall Farm to reach the Dunkirk Inn (grid ref 238080) on the A635 at 6.00pm.The coach will set off home at 6.30 pm.
New members are most welcome and will find this an appropriate walk to ease into the club. There is no requirement to pre-book your seat on the coach.
